On Wednesday the 14th of May the year 10 and 11 students attended the Karratha Careers Expo with the support of the Onslow Swans.
Whilst at the Expo the students spoke to a number of employers such as the Australian Defence Force about their medical program, diving roles and apprenticeships.
Students enjoyed their conversations with the various representatives from RIO TINTO about the numerous careers pathways that RIO has available and what students need to achieve at school and through tertiary studies to have the knowledge and skills for these roles.
Students with an interest in the medical sciences had a very informative conversation with Central Health about the high demand for people working in the health industry throughout the Pilbara and the levels of pay that was currently being offered to attract people in the medical industry.
Students with an interest in working int he biological science or Flora and Fauna engaged conversation with the Pilbara Ecological group who provided students with knowledge about careers they had not yet known about and how these roles aligned with the students’ personal interests.
